Solagraphs

Solagraphs

Solargraphs of approximately 1-3 month long exposures at various locations in and around Galway city. These were done in a basic pinhole camera left to face the elements. as such you can see some water damage and other marks of deterioration across the surface of the  photographic paper. Once extracted it must be scanned.

The scan itself will damage the original image through the light so takes on life digitally after its humble analog beginnings. The lines of light seen across the photos is the Sun going up and down and its vector changing over the duration of the exposure as  the ~23 degree tilt of the Earth’s axis changes our perspective.
